Naga Festival Tour

The biggest and most important festival of the Naga tribes takes place on Jan 14 annually to celebrate their traditional New Year Festival. The festival is called Kaing Bi and run by Naga festival committee. Each year, the committee will choose a certain location then organize the festival. All Naga tribes then send a few delegations and representatives to attend this occasion, therefore, it is the perfect opportunity to see variety of different Naga people.

Day 01: Yangon Arrival

Upon your arrival, you will be met and transferred to the hotel. Begin sightseeing including colourful downtown Yangon, Chaukhtatkyi, a colossal reclining Buddha; a scenic photo stop on beautiful Kandawgyi Lake and the Shwedagon Pagoda, arguably the world's most impressive golden stupa.

Day 02: Yangon - Homalin - Htamanthi village

After breakfast, being transferred to airport for the flight to Homalin. Upon your arrival, proceed to Pinmar village (88 km, 4 hours), cross Chindwin River by ferry. We reach Htamanthi village in the late afternoon. Free at leisure.

Day 03: Drive to Leshi

This day we continue our drive to Leshi. Arrive in the venue in the afternoon. Free at leisure.

Day 04: Naga Festival

This day, we attend the festive atmosphere of Naga festival, watching Naga Pole Erection Ceremony and opening of Naga Traditional Field. Enjoy the music of Naga Youth Association in the evening.

Day 05: Naga Festival

Another day in Leshi to enjoy the Naga festival. After breakfast, we may observe the opening ceremony of Naga’s New Year festival, presentation of Naga history and Naga traditional dance performance. Experience the Naga Pan (a traditional drum) and try playing Naga funny game competition such as: putting the shot, discuss throwing game in the afternoon. Enjoy Naga traditional dance and bonfire in the evening.

Day 06: Drive back to Homalin

Drive back to Htamanthi in the morning then cross the Chindwin River by ferry to Pinmar village. Continue to Homalin.

Day 07: Flight to Mandalay

Board a flight back to Mandalay in the morning. Free at leisure.

Day 08: Mingun - Mandalay Royal Palace

Board on a local boat upstream to see the massive ruins of the Mingun pagoda, Pahtodawgyi, the huge Mingun Bell, Hsinbyume. After that, we travel back to Mandalay city centre to explore Mandalay and visit Mahamuni Image Pagoda, Shwe Inbin Monastery and Golden Palace Shwenandaw Monastery, which is well-known for its exquisite wood carvings.

Day 09: Amarapura & Ava - Departure

Venture outside to discover the former royal capital of Amarapura with the picturesque Ubein Bridge, the longest teakwood bridge in the world, then visit Sagaing. After lunch, we will pay another visit to another former royal capital in Mandalay called Inwa. Travel by pony cart down tree-lined paths to see old palace walls, wooden monasteries and the Nam Myint 'leaning tower of Ava'. Fly back to Bangkok for your onward flight home.
