Day 01 Yangon arrival

Upon arrival in Yangon you will be met by your guide and driver and chauffeured to your hotel in the city and enjoy the rest of your morning at your leisure after your long haul fligh. The highlight of the day is a visit to the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda, the most outstanding and revered Buddhist pagoda in Burma, whose golden stupa dominates the skyline of Yangon. This is also the most ideal spot from which to watch the sunset in Yangon. Return to the hotel for rest and free to discover the city at night.

Day 02 Yangon Sightseeing

Today we set out to explore the fascinating city of Yangon and its famous colonial British buildings and religious monuments. Highlights include Chaukhtagyi Paya and Sule Pagoda, Maha Bandoola Park, City Hall and the High Court. After a break for lunch we visit the Naga Cave monastic school. End the day with a visit to Scott's Market.

Day 03 A visit to Htaukkyan Cemetary

Visit the Taukkyan War Cemetery, a memorial to the Allied soldiers of the British Commonwealth who died in Burma during the Second World War. Here the four battlefields of Akyab, Mandalay, Meiktila and Sahmaw were brought together, as their original locations were deemed too difficult to access. After paying our respects to the fallen soldiers we head to visit the Botantaung Pagoda and Nanthida Jetty.

Day 04 Yangon - Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin)

Morning flight to Mandalay then transfer to Maymyo, now called Pyin Oo Lwin, after a scenic two-hour drive. You will find out many reminders of the colonial era still present now in Pyin Oo Lwin, including brick and timber houses. Lay back on a leisurely traditional horse and carriage ride through the town and walk around to see the beautiful recently renovated Botanical Gardens. You also have chance to visit the local market in the center of the town near to the clock tower. In the afternoon, we will take an excursion to the Railway Station and impressive Anisakan waterfalls, north of Pyin Oo Lwin.

Day 05 Maymyo (Pyin Oo Lwin) - Mogok

Drive to Mogok passing through farmlands, and then ascending by twisting and turning roads with rural landscapes. En route, sightseeing includes bamboo roof weaving, sugar cane industry which produces raw material for sugar and cane jiggery. Upon arrival at Kyat Pyin, the western part of Mogok, visit one of the open pit mines and traditional four-feet-square mines. You also have time to commemorate the  people who served and died in the war in Burma at the Mogok cemetary.

Day 06 Mogok Sightseeing - Mandalay

Breakfast and visit to colorful Aungchanthar market with ethnic hill tribes around Mogok. Continue visit open pit mines, tunnel type mines and traditional four feet square mines. Observe twice daily gem market at Panchan. Drive back to Mandalay then relax.

Day 07 Mandalay Sightseeing - Ubein Bridge

This morning we explore Mahamuni Image Pagoda then the Royal Mandalay vestiges and relics covering Imperial Palace, Golden Palace Monastery, well-known for its exquisite wood carvings and Kuthodaw Pagoda also known as the world biggest book. In the afternoon, we will travel to Ava, Amarapura to discover the Maha Aungmye Bonzan, Gabaya Monastery, Leaning Nam Myint Tower and the nearby attractions. Enjoy a walk over U Bein bridge, the longest teak wood bridge in Myanmar.

Day 08 Mandalay - Boat ride to Bagan

Fly to Myitkyina and check in at Pansun Hotel. Local tours of old barracks, polo field site and former RAF/USAAF airfield.

Day 09 Bagan stupas

This city is no doubt one of the most impressive sites anywhere in Asia. Begin to visit the vibrant Nyaung Oo Market, the economic center of Bagan. Local people gather at this bustling market daily, to buy and sell a variety of goods, from fruit and vegetables to clothing, china, and lacquerware. Continue to the gold-plated Shwezigon Pagoda, Bagan’s greatest reliquary, built to house relics of the Buddha brought from abroad. From here, drive to the small village of Wetkyi-in to see the wonderful Kubyaukgyi Temple, renowned for its ancient murals then Ananda temple, one of the most reserved monuments in the entire Bagan. Your morning excursion also includes the Htilominlo Temple, which houses four Buddha figures on the ground floor and four more on the first floor. After lunch, continue your exploration of the city’s treasure trove of Buddhist art and architecture.

Day 10 Bagan - Mount Popa

We will drive to Mount Popa in the morning, an extinct volcano renowned as the home of the 'nats' (or spirits) and which offers a spectacular view of the Bagan’s surrounding plains. Return to Bagan in the afternoon. Free at leisure.

Day 11 Bagan - Golden Rock

Fly back to Yangon then drive to Golden Rock, one of the best-known pilgrimage sites in the country. After breakfast, drive 190 km east of Yangon to Kyaikhtiyo. Once arrival, we, as well as others, normally have two options to go up the Golden Rock. One way is to walk along the twisting 10km, on the footpath through a bamboo forests. The second way is to travel to the rock by small open trucks, taking one hour. Upon reaching the summit enjoy breathtaking views and a magnificent sunset.

Day 12 Golden Rock - Hpaan

After breakfast we head to Hpa An, the capital of the Kayin State. En route we stop off in Thaton to explore a network of caves, including Ba Yin Nyi and Kawgun caves. An evening visit to Shwe Sar Yan Pagoda on Mount Zwegabin offers lovely views of the river.

Day 13 Hpaan - Mawlamyine

Continuing our journey we head to Mawlamyine, where we explore the Saddar cave and Khayone. In the afternoon we climb the Mawlamyine Hill, where we can see the famous Mahamuni Buddha image and the 100-year old Seindon Mibaya Kyaung. In the evening enjoy a sunset view of the Mawlamyine and Thanlyin Rivers from Kyaikthanlan Payar.

Day 14 The Death Railway in Thanbyuzayat

Today we drive to Thanbyuzayat to the World War II cemetery which contains almost 4000 graves of Allied prisoners of war - from Australia, New Zealand and Britain, who died while building infamous Burma Railway, also known as the Death Railway.

Day 15 Mawlamyine - Bago - Yangon

On our way back to Yangon we stop off in Bago, the ancient Mon capital. Here we see the Shwemawdaw and Kyaikpun pagodas and a reclining Buddha before returning to the capital city.

Day 16 Yangon departure
