Kandawgyi Lake

This notable lake was entirely man-made, and created as a reliable water supply for the city. The major source of water of the lake comes from Yangon’s another lake, called Inya lake.

Kandawgyi now is become a landscape of the city and an indispensable part of any visit to Burma’s former administrative capital. Nestleded inside the Kandawgyi Nature Park, which also includes the Yangon Zoological Gardens, the lake is a popular venue for city dwellers coming to have their morning exercises as well as looking for a quick escape.

Normally, a visit to the lake will be combined with a visit to Shwedagon Pagoda, which takes a few minutes walking west of Kandawgyi. At the same time to the Kandawgyi Lake, you also can look out for Karaweik Hall Barge, a modern day super-sized replica of a royal Burmese river barge. At first, the barge was constructed as a place for important events, but is now used as the home of a large buffet restaurant.
